About the photograph
I stand on the edge of the reef at Point Lonsdale, the lighthouse towering above, casting its steady gaze out to sea. The soft afternoon light bathes the scene, draping everything in a golden glow. The tide surges around me, cascading over the rocks with a fierce determination, pulling in one direction and then another as if caught in an endless struggle. I can feel the energy of the water, its rhythm filling the air with a constant hum.
As I watch, the water ebbs and flows, each wave carving a path across the reef’s surface, glistening under the fading light. The lighthouse stands resolute against the gentle sky, its white walls bathed in soft hues, a timeless guardian amidst the relentless motion of the sea. There's a sense of calm here, a stillness that contrasts with the powerful currents below. Standing here, I am reminded of the resilience of this coast, of how the lighthouse and the reef have stood together, bearing witness to countless sunsets, tides, and whispers of the ocean.
