You may be ready for mentoring when
You are not short of images. You are short of clarity.
Mentoring is not about copying another photographer’s style. It is about seeing your own work more honestly and making decisions with greater intention.
Your portfolio feels scattered
You have strong individual images, but the work does not yet feel connected or easy to describe.
You cannot see your own patterns
You are too close to the work to recognise the themes, moods and choices that already make it yours.
A project has stalled
You have an idea, collection or public outcome in mind, but the next useful step is unclear.
The creative and commercial feel disconnected
Your photography, website, offers or business direction no longer feel aligned.
The work beneath the work
Creative direction, practical decisions and a path you can follow.
The conversation changes according to your goals. Technical questions can be addressed, but the larger purpose is to understand why the work succeeds, where it loses clarity and what deserves your attention next.
Visual voice
Recognise recurring themes, moods, subjects and emotional patterns within your work.
Portfolio & editing
Select stronger images, remove visual noise, refine sequencing and build cohesion.
Print & exhibition
Shape photographs into collections, editions, wall text, competitions or public outcomes.
Creative business
Align your brand, website, offers and commercial direction with the work you want to make.
Not sure where to begin?
Start with Creative Clarity.
A focused creative reset for photographers who feel stuck, scattered or unsure which direction deserves their energy. Dani reviews your work before the session so the conversation can begin beneath the surface.
- Review of up to 20 images
- Honest portfolio feedback
- Creative direction guidance
- Written action plan

Master of Arts Photography
Advanced study in contemporary photographic practice, research and public outcomes.
Hasselblad Masters Finalist
International recognition grounded in an active fine art landscape practice.
Experienced educator
Photography teaching, critique, assessment and mentoring across different stages of development.
Print & exhibition experience

Before you begin
Questions photographers often ask.
The best mentoring relationship begins with a clear understanding of what the process can—and cannot—do.
Which pathway should I choose?
When you are genuinely unsure, Creative Clarity is the strongest place to begin. Dani reviews your work, identifies the most useful direction and recommends a next step only when it is relevant.
Is mentoring available outside Melbourne?
Yes. Mentoring is available online across Australia and internationally. In-person and on-location sessions may be available in Melbourne by arrangement, depending on the pathway.
Do I need a finished project or portfolio?
No. You can arrive with a finished body of work, an early project, a group of disconnected images or simply a sense that the current direction is no longer working.
Is this technical photography tuition?
Technical questions, Lightroom, workflow and editing can be covered where useful. The core pathways go further by connecting those decisions to visual voice, cohesion and creative intention.
Can I book a single session?
Yes. Creative Clarity includes preparation, a 90-minute private session and a written action plan. Hourly Creative Mentoring is available for more flexible technical or focused support.
Are the longer pathways only for professional photographers?
No. They are designed for photographers undertaking work that benefits from sustained structure and feedback. The deciding factor is the scope of the goal, not whether photography is currently your full-time income.
Student reflections
What changed after the conversation.
The strongest mentoring outcomes are not simply better photographs. They are clearer decisions, greater trust in the work and a creative direction that feels possible to continue.
Replace this with an approved student quotation of approximately 35–55 words. The best quote should describe the shift in confidence, clarity or direction—not simply say that the session was enjoyable.
Optional outcome line: for example, the student completed a portfolio, submitted a project, printed a collection or returned to making work.
Replace this with an approved student quotation focused on Dani’s ability to see patterns in the work, give direct feedback and turn uncertainty into specific next steps.
Optional outcome line: include a concrete result where the student has approved it.
Replace this with an approved student quotation that demonstrates a different result from the first two—such as print, exhibition, portfolio cohesion, editing or creative business direction.
Optional outcome line: keep this to one concise sentence.
