ARTIST STATEMENT

Standing at the edge of the Merreweather Ocean Pool, I feel the first whispers of dawn light brushing against my face. Beside me, the water lies still, mirroring the soft pastels of the sky that blend from pink to the palest blue. The ocean pool blocks are lined up in perfect sequence, their numbers barely breaking the surface, like quiet sentinels waiting to welcome the day's first swimmers. The air is crisp, and each breath fills my lungs with the faint scent of salt.

As we watch, a lone swimmer dips into the pool, their rhythmic strokes creating gentle ripples that disturb the glassy surface. The waves beyond the pool crash faintly against the rocks, their sound softened by distance, a natural symphony in harmony with the quietude around us. You can feel the tranquillity settle in your bones, grounding you in the moment as we share this peaceful, almost sacred space.

Together, we stand in silent awe, as the light intensifies, painting the sky in pastel hues that deepen by the minute. Each detail, from the texture of the water to the subtle hum of the sea, connects us more deeply to the beauty and serenity of this dawn.
