ARTIST STATEMENT

At first light, the air hums with the distant tremble of hooves, a murmur growing into a full, resonant roar. As the sun rises, the landscape awakens, bathed in a warm, golden glow. Emerging from the plains, three hundred horses gather and with a sudden surge, they break forward in unison, hooves pounding the earth, their thunder reverberating through the valley.

The ground shivers beneath them, their rhythm filling the morning air. They reach the creek, charging through with untamed energy, water exploding into the light, droplets shimmering like sparks in the dawn. Reflections ripple, merging and shifting, as if the herd runs in two worlds—one above, one below.

In this fleeting moment, they move with the land, each stride and breath in sync with something greater. There’s no rush, no urgency—just the pure, unrestrained power of the herd, alive and free, cutting through the water in the day’s first light. Their bodies flow together, like a river of muscle and motion, merging seamlessly with the landscape in a perfect expression of freedom.

As they pass, time slows, capturing this brief display of strength and grace. The horses meld with the morning, embodying the wild beauty of the land before fading back into the shadows from which they emerged. And for a moment longer, the echoes of their gallop linger, a whisper of the spirit and power that surged through the dawn.
