ARTIST STATEMENT

Here we stand together, facing this solitary relic—a vintage petrol bowser.. Its bold red paint is weathered, chipped by the years, yet it still stands tall, a proud monument to a time when the roads were less travelled, and refuelling was an event in itself. The sky stretches endlessly above, pale blue with wisps of clouds moving lazily, framing this piece of history against a timeless backdrop.

The bowser feels almost like a sentinel, watching over the fields, as if waiting for the next vehicle that will never arrive. You can almost hear the faint echoes of engines long gone, the clinking of fuel caps, and the exchange of words as drivers shared stories over the rumble of their engines. There’s a quiet reverence here, a reminder of the simpler days when this bowser was a vital lifeline on the journey.

As we stand beside it, we’re enveloped by the nostalgia of forgotten miles and untold stories, the air still carrying the scent of the fields, untouched by time.
