About the photograph

I walk slowly down the weathered timber jetty, each footstep creaking softly, blending with the gentle lapping of the water below. The first light of dawn casts a delicate warmth across the scene, bathing the Oyster Shack in a soft, golden glow that reflects over the glass-like water. A soft mist clings to the distant hills, giving them an almost dreamlike quality, as if they are wrapped in a morning slumber.

Standing here, I take in the stillness of the Koolewong inlet. The water is so calm it mirrors the wooden planks beneath, stretching out into a seamless expanse of muted blues and subtle golds. The only movement is the occasional ripple, barely disturbing the surface, and the subtle drift of clouds above, painted in soft pastels. I feel like I am floating on air, suspended in a rare moment of tranquillity.

The cool morning breeze carries the faint scent of saltwater and wood, evoking a profound connection to this simple, beautiful place. In the quiet embrace of dawn, time seems to hold its breath, leaving me fully immersed in the serenity of the Central Coast's quiet waters.
