ARTIST STATEMENT

From above, this fragment of Lake Eyre becomes something else entirely—part island, part apparition. A sculpted swell of white salt curls gently through layers of amber and olive green, as if floating between two worlds. The textures shift like brushstrokes—soft, weathered, organic—etched by wind, time, and evaporating water. It feels ancient. Untouched. Dreamlike.
In the stillness, the colours intensify—the warm ochres seeping into cool mineral tones, wrapping around the form like a quiet tide. There are no roads here, no signs of human interruption. Just the natural geometry of earth and salt merging into abstraction.
This image captures a suspended moment in a place that defies predictability. It’s not just a landscape—it’s a fleeting imprint of something ephemeral, shaped by retreating water and revealed only from the air.
