In the tranquil country town of Bacchus Marsh, a beautiful thoroughfare graces its entrance, known as the Avenue of Honour; this pathway was more than just a scenic route; it is a living testament to history.
In the early 20th century, when the First World War gripped the world, the people of Bacchus Marsh sought a way to honour their brave men and women fighting overseas. Thus, the idea of the Avenue of Honour was born. For every local hero who left for the war, a tree was planted in their name along this avenue, creating a lush, green corridor that stretched on for miles.
As years turned into decades, the Avenue of Honour became a magnificent sight. Elms and oaks stood tall and proud, their leaves rustling like whispers of the past, each tree symbolising a courageous individual who had served their country. It became a place of remembrance, reflection, and immense pride for the residents of Bacchus Marsh.
Visitors entering the town would marvel at the stunning spectacle of the Avenue of Honour. The sun-dappled pathway, lined with towering trees, contrasts the otherwise quiet country landscape.
