ARTIST STATEMENT

Standing on the edge of a vast wheat field in Eynesbury, I waited as the late afternoon light cast a warm glow over the ripening crop. The sky above was heavy, a tapestry of ominous clouds rolling in, darkening with the promise of rain. Suddenly, a flash of lightning sliced through the twilight, illuminating the vast horizon in a moment of raw power and beauty. I could feel the crackle of electricity in the air, the stillness of the field contrasting with the energy of the storm above. Capturing this scene felt like holding a brief encounter with nature’s fury, a reminder of both the fragility and resilience of the land. The golden wheat seemed to sway in response, bending under the looming power of the sky, ready to yield yet endure. This moment captures the drama and beauty of Australia’s rural heart, where nature’s intensity is both feared and revered.
