ARTIST STATEMENT

From above, Lake Eyre becomes a dream. Soft light floats across the surface, reflecting the pastel blush of clouds that shift in and out of clarity. The lake’s crusted textures ripple like ancient etchings, dissolving into the shallows where salt and sky converge. Time slows here. There is no rush—only the hush of wind, the memory of water, and the quiet voice of the desert. As you follow the shoreline’s gentle arc, it feels like the earth is breathing just beneath the surface. This is a place shaped by extremes but experienced in stillness—a fleeting mirror of light and land. In that moment, hovering above, you feel it: a vastness that humbles, a silence that soothes, and a connection to country that can’t quite be put into words.
