A Dragons Dance

ARTIST STATEMENT

Situated on the rugged reef of 16th Beach, Rye, with the imposing silhouette of Dragon Head Rock framing the scene, I find myself enveloped in the harmonious sounds of the ocean. The rhythmic cadence of waves rolling in and receding, their forceful dance against the shore, crafts an idyllic acoustic backdrop to this visual banquet. It's akin to a tranquil symphony, a melody that effectively silences the cacophony of the world beyond this seascape, leaving in its wake a serene tranquillity that is both calming to the soul and rejuvenating to the spirit.

Amid such a setting, I am embraced by an overwhelming sense of peace. An intrinsic connection weaves itself between me and the surrounding landscape, tethering me to the raw elements of nature. Each wave that collides with the shore, each gust of wind that ripples the surface of the water, each ray of sunlight that playfully glints off the rocks seems to converse with me. They guide me, like unseen companions, as I navigate this location, my eyes and heart searching for the perfect composition in my exploration.

This journey isn't just about the physical traversal of the land. It's also an exploration of self, a discovery of how one fits into the universe's grand scheme. As each wave retreats, it leaves behind more than traces on the sand; it leaves behind a sense of understanding, a recognition of the rhythm of life. While they may disturb the water's surface, the gusts of wind also bring with them a fresh perspective and a renewed vigor. And the rays of sunlight, dancing on the rocks, paint a picture of hope, illuminating the path ahead.

Thus, perched on the reef at 16th Beach, Rye, I find more than just a beautiful seascape. I see a symphony of nature, a dance of elements, and a mirror to my soul.
