ARTIST STATEMENT

Experiencing dawn at the Merewether Ocean Baths is a spectacle regardless of the weather. As the sun ascends, its initial beams tenderly caress the horizon. I count the waves, anticipating the moment when the ocean might spill between the swimming blocks. Throughout this, I aim to keep it as uncomplicated as possible.

Countless photographs taken here by various photographers accentuate the raw power or the serene tranquillity of the sea, and I adore them all.

For me, it's about the retreat. I cherish the opportunity to be in a place where I can momentarily shed my everyday concerns, and the ocean has a knack for facilitating that. It could be observing the shifting light, tuning into the sea symphony... just taking a brief respite from the world.

The next time I venture here, it won't be to photograph but rather to swim and immerse myself in the Merewether experience. Occasionally, it would be best if you carved out time to relish the simpler moments in life.
